Unreasonable expectations of others
We are so fixated on ourselves that we fail to see what other people are really like and so develop false expectations of them. For example, we may hope that a very selfish person will be capable of love, or that someone who is generally unreliable will be capable of being responsible. To keep our peace of mind and avoid disappointment, we have to be realistic about other people’s potential, and observant about their character.
